2024 General Travel Information

You will receive emails updating you on travel information up until camp starts. We also use a text and phone messaging system to alert you of any changes or delays in bus or air travel. Thank you for keeping an eye out for those!

There are several ways to get to and from camp, which are outlined below.

To Camp by Car

• Please arrive between 1:00 – 3:00 PM to provide the smoothest transition for your camper.
• Please let us know if you will arrive outside of the specified time.
• Camp’s address is 8450 Camp Highlands Rd., Sayner, WI 54560

Returning Home by Car

• Pick-up is Saturday between 9:00-9:30 AM.
• You will be directed when you arrive at camp.

To Camp By Bus from Chicago, IL with a stop in Madison, WI

• Important: You must have reserved bus transportation by May 1
• Campers may travel from Chicago one-way or round-trip on our chartered motor coaches.
• We will depart from the Target Parking lot located at 7000 Mannheim Rd, Rosemont, IL directly across the street from the Allstate Arena.
• Please have your son there by 9:30 AM to load all of his baggage. Busses depart at 10 a.m.
• We stop in Madison, WI at the Shell gas station, Exit 132, 51 Madison/Deforest between 12:00-12:30 PM
• Each boy should bring a sack lunch to eat along the way.
• The bus cost of $125 each way will be added to your statement at the end of camp.
• Your child will be expected to ride the bus safely with our designated staff person and follow all rules and safety expectations.
• NEW IN 2023! Please note cell phones and other devices will not be allowed on the bus. Your son will be asked to check them in with you before he gets on the bus.

Returning Home by Bus

• A charge of $125/boy will be added to your account.
• The bus will depart camp no later than 9:00 AM 
• The buses will return to the Target parking lot located at 7000 Mannheim Rd, Rosemont, IL, directly across the street from the Allstate Arena at approximately 3:45 PM. Thank you for being on time to meet your child.

To and From Camp by Plane

• To Camp into Chicago O’Hare to join the boys on the bus
• Campers flying into O’Hare should arrive before 9:00 AM on Sunday morning.
• If your child is flying, please SHIP their gear to camp so we can go straight from the airport to the bus. It is challenging to manage trunks and large suitcases during this pick-up. We can accommodate extenuating circumstances, but please communicate this in writing to Tracy.
• A counselor in a Highlands shirt will meet your son at the arrival gate (campers flying Unaccompanied Minors) or the baggage claim (campers flying as an adult).
• We will call to let you know your son has been met.
• You MUST schedule your son’s gear to be shipped using our partner Ship Camps.
• To complete an unaccompanied minor (UM) form, you will need a name. Use Andy Bachmann as a placeholder name and call or email camp the day before your son travels so that we can give you the name and phone number of the staffer to use on the UM form.
• If you are not using the unaccompanied minor form, we will meet your son at his baggage claim.
• Once your son has been met by the CH staff member, he will board the bus and they will take the trip up to Camp.
• We make sure they are fed, but it doesn’t hurt to send them with snacks.
• We must have a copy of your son’s itinerary and confirmation code.

Airport Pick-ups from Wausau and Rhinelander

• You may fly your child in and out of Rhinelander (1 hr. drive) or Central Wisconsin Airports (2 hrs. drive).
• A vaccinated counselor in a Highlands shirt will meet each boy who flies into Rhinelander (RHI) or Central Wisconsin Airport in Wausau/Mosinee (CWA)
• If your son is flying as an unaccompanied minor, use Andy Bachmann as a placeholder name and call or email camp three days before camp to get the final name of the counselor who will meet your son.
• You MUST schedule your son’s gear to be shipped using our partner Ship Camps.
• Please arrange a return departure after 9:00 AM from Rhinelander and after 10:00 AM from Central Wisconsin – it is impossible for us to get your child to the airport before that time.
• We must have a copy of your son’s itinerary and confirmation code.
